Nach sorgfältiger Überlegung und in einvernehmlicher Absprache mit Fahrern und Sponsoren, wurde der teaminterne Entschluss gefasst, die GT4 European Series, mit beiden Fahrzeugen, nicht weiter fortzusetzen.

Schon beim 5. Lauf, am kommenden Wochenende, im Rahmen des 24h-Rennens im belgischen Spa Francorchamps, wird die Mannschaft aus Mönchengladbach mit ihren auffällig neon-folierten BMW nicht am Start sein. So die einvernehmliche Entscheidung aller Beteiligten.

Das Statement des Teams:

„Viele Faktoren tragen zu der Entscheidung bei. Die Beendigung unserer Teilnahme in der GT4 für die Saison 2020, ist uns alles andere als leichtgefallen. Es ist das erste Mal in der erfolgreichen Geschichte von RN Vision STS, dass wir uns zu einem solchen Schritt gezwungen sehen.

Doch besondere Umstände erfordern besondere Maßnahmen:

Die Saison wurde, mit den Erkenntnissen aus Februar, unter generell schwierigen Bedingungen geplant. Es stand mit unseren Fahrern und Sponsoren zur Debatte, unter den behördlichen Auflagen und dem Covid-Protokoll der SRO und den damit verbundenen Hürden, für 2020 überhaupt an den Start zu gehen.

Trotz der bestmöglichen Vorbereitung durch die SRO-Organisation, betrachten wir die aktuelle Gesamtlage, explizit in Belgien und Frankreich, kritisch. Abgesehen von gesundheitlichen Aspekten für das Team, erschweren zusätzliche Auflagen und die anschließende Quarantäne die Umsetzung der Einsätze.

Auch die zuletzt konstant ungünstige BOP-Einstufung der BMW M4 GT4 Fahrzeuge im Vergleich zu den Wettbewerbern, lässt uns unsere Chancen auf die ersehnten sportlichen Erfolge sehr nüchtern einschätzen.

Zudem ergaben sich, durch die Änderungen und Straffung im Saisonkalender für die 2. Jahreshälfte,   Überschneidungen unserer Einsatzgebiete im Motorsport. Wir mussten und müssen doppeltes Personal für diese Veranstaltungen einsetzen, on top der erhöhte Planungsaufwand für die Logistik etc… Mit der Doppelbelastung stiegen auch die Kosten. Erschwerend dazu, wurden die Auflagen, durch wieder steigende Corona-Zahlen, verschärft.

In den letzten 3 Wochen haben wir gemeinsam alle Chancen und Risiken geprüft.

In der Verkettung aller Ereignisse und in der Aussicht auf die stetig schwieriger werdenden Bedingungen, in Hinsicht auf sportlichen Erfolg, Budget Anpassungen und auch durch die neuesten Infektions-Zahlen an Covid-19, haben wir, mit unseren Fahrern und Sponsoren, gemeinschaftlich entschieden, die Saison vorzeitig zu beenden und uns mit voller Energie der Planungen auf die Saison 2021 zu widmen.

Auch wenn sich RN Vision STS den sportlichen Erfolg als oberste Priorität auf ihre Fahnen geschrieben hat: Ein verantwortungsvoller Umgang mit der gesundheitlichen Bedrohung und mit den finanziellen Ressourcen, sowohl eigenen wie den unserer Sponsoren, lässt uns keine andere Wahl offen, als die Saison mit sofortiger Wirkung zu beenden.

Wir bedanken uns bei unseren zahlreichen treuen Fans und dem Hersteller BMW Motorsport, für die fantastische Unterstützung während der Saison. Wir bedanken uns bei unseren Kunden, Sponsoren, Fahrern und jedem einzelnen im Team. Allen Beteiligten blutet das Herz! Mit der aktuell 2. Position im SILVER -Championat, ist es vor allem sportlich ein herber Rückschlag für uns.

Trotz all dem, sind wir stolz auf die geleisteten Erfolge! Rennsiege und Podien haben uns begleitet. Wir haben tolle neue Persönlichkeiten im Team begrüßen dürfen, faire Sportsmänner, Racer, Helfer und Freunde. Auch unsere Stammbesetzung, Gabriele Piana, hat unglaubliches geleistet und fuhr bis dato seine beste Saison! Wir verlassen mit einem weinenden und einem lachenden Auge das Parkett und hoffen, dass in 2021 die Motorsportwelt wieder aufatmen kann und alle Teams die Möglichkeit bekommen, gestärkt in die neue Saison zu starten. Wir kommen wieder, das ist sicher… und zwar besser als je zuvor!“

RN Vision STS ends 2020 season early

After careful consideration and in mutual agreement with our drivers and sponsors, the team’s internal decision was made not to continue the GT4 European Series with neither of the two cars.

Already at the 5th race taking place next weekend, the 24h race in Spa Francorchamps, the team from Mönchengladbach with their striking neon-foil BMWs will not be participating. This is the unanimous decision of all stakeholders.

The statement of the team:

„Many factors have contributed to this decision. The termination of our participation in the GT4 for the 2020 season was anything but easy for us. It is the first time in the successful history of RN Vision STS that we have been forced to take such a step.

But special circumstances require special measures:

The season was planned, with the lessons learned in February, under generally difficult conditions. Whether to even start in 2020 had been up to debate with our drivers and sponsors in face of the regulatory requirements, the SRO’s Covid Protocol, and the associated hurdles.

Despite the best possible preparation by the SRO organization, we view the current overall situation, explicitly in Belgium and France, with concern. Apart from health aspects in regard to the team, additional requirements and the subsequent obligatory quarantine make the deployments increasingly difficult.

Moreover, the consistently unfavorable BOP classification of the BMW M4 GT4 vehicles compared to the competitors further diminishes, in our view, our chances of achieving the desired success.

In addition, changes and streamlining of the seasons’ calendar for the second half of the year have resulted in overlaps of our motorsport deployments. We had, and still have to, employ double personnel for these events, on top the already increased planning effort for logistics etc. Due to this double burden the costs also increased. To make matters worse, the increasing number of Corona events led to even tighter requirements and regulations.

In the last 3 weeks we have jointly examined all opportunities and risks.

Due to the aforementioned circumstances and in view of the increasingly difficult conditions, in terms of sporting success, budget adjustments and also due to the latest infection figures on Covid-19, we have decided, together with our drivers and sponsors, to end the season early and devote all our energy to the planning for the 2021 season.

Even though RN Vision STS has made success in the sport its top priority, a responsible approach to the current health threat and to financial resources, both our own and those of our sponsors, leaves us no choice but to end the season with immediate effect.

We would like to thank our many loyal fans and the manufacturer BMW Motorsport for their fantastic support during the season. We would like to thank our customers, sponsors, drivers, and everyone in the team. All of us involved are heartbroken! With the current 2nd position in the SILVER -Championship, this is a bitter setback for us.

Despite all this, we are proud of the successes we have achieved! Race wins and podiums have accompanied us in this season. We have welcomed great new personalities to the team, fair sportsmen, racers, supporters, and friends. Our regular team member, Gabriele Piana, has also done an incredible job and has had his best season so far! We are leaving with a crying and a laughing eye and hope that in 2021, the motorsport world will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and that all teams will have the opportunity to start the new season stronger. We’ll be back, that’s for sure… and better than ever before!
